The 2010 November 5th Season is just about over and so it's time for a few days of well earned rest .... the good news is that everyone loved our displays and all of our clients over the season re-booked Hi-5 Fireworks for November 2011 already ;-)

The highlights of 2010 included those massive gerbs from a certain supplier in Cambridgeshire and our new firing system, plus, of course, our famous Shock & Awe finale sequences. The other good news is that we're all still in one piece and have most of our sanity intact after the wettest November 4th any of us could remember for quite some time; now where did I put that trench foot cream ....

Hi-5 Fireworks - New Crew Update

Time to welcome our newest Crew Member to the Team. Actually, Ian joined us a while back and has been training with us for several months now. We're confident he'll make a fantastic contribution to the team in the future and we're delighted to have him on board. Ian is out most nights this week on displays with us and we look forward to having on the crew at many more shows in 2010 and 2011 - although he's already said he won't work New Year's Eve - something about having a party to go to ;-)

Well, I'm pleased to say that our new look website is now live (with a few more pages too); more importantly we've moved our domain to a new ISP now which should give us a quicker website. Thank you for your patience during the rather painful transition period between the 2 hosting providers. Normal service would appear to be now resumed ...

2010 BUSY WITH DISPLAYS

Well 2010 is now well underway and we're busier than ever. Despite the recession. We have almost 30 confirmed shows over the next few months - easily enough to keep us busy over the Summer and beyond. Of course, we have plenty of trained and experienced Crew Members so we're able to fire multiple shows on the same night, luckily ;-) An increasing number of shows are to music too - I love creating them and I know our teams love working on them too - music adds a completely new dimension to any display. We're even getting busy with Christmas Light turn-ons for several councils around the UK. Here's to a hectic year !

We're now designing our new fireworks for delivery around May next year.When our next containers are delivered they will contain updated versions of many of our existing products along with some absolutely stunning new products - we can't wait to show you our custom designed cylinder shells and amazing shape shells. The image is from a large display we recently fired which requiring a very large number of aerial shells. You can see the racking holding the mortars for a range of 2” and 3” shells. These mortars are already loaded in the picture and you can see the fuse at the top of a number of the tubes.

I added some really nice HelmetCam footage taken at recent Firework Displays to our Video Vault on the website today. Filming by PyroDave and featuring PyroBub and PyroHams getting exploded by various Cakes, Candles and Shellage ;-) NB. Do NOT try this at home folks !

WIRELESS SEQUENCER FIRING SYSTEM

We've imported some brilliant Wireless Sequencers, and they're available in our webstore now for just £259. The system is an 18 cue wireless firing system & powerful sequencer with input/output trigger functionality via wireless or wire in a waterproof tough ABS case. Ideal as either small stand alone firing system or a sequencer connected to a larger system eg. pyromate.

Just for fun, I added a load of pictures which we took whilst unloading our latest Fireworks Delivery at the end of August. You can see them by visiting our website and following the links or by clicking HERE ;-) It took us 4.5 Hours to unload the container because it was 6 hours late and some of the team had to leave before it got to us at our storage facility. It was the hardest 4 hours I've ever had ;-)

49mm DISPLAY CANDLES

Included in our latest Fireworks Delivery were our new 49mm Display Candles. Not the usual 47mm candles you see being used around the UK these days - these bad boys are right up to the MAX size we're allowed under the current regulations [a 50mm candle would be classified as 1.1G and therefore useless for normal UK purposes or storage].There are 2 types of these large candles currently available from us - I'll upload some video in the next week or so - but they're both amazing. One is Red Crackling Tail with Green Strobe Mine & the other is Blue Comet with Silver Wave Tail and Red Strobe Mine. Both items were designed and manufactured exclusively for Hi-5 Fireworks.

MAERSK SHIP & FIREWORKS ALMOST HERE

Looking at the image above you can see that the Maersk Sydney (the anchor symbol at the bottom of the map) is nearly here. It was just South of Hastings at 7am this morning and it's heading to Felixstowe which is at the top of the map. Using the scale you can see that it's only about 70 Nautical Miles away and at it's top speed of around 28 knots that would only take about 3-4 Hours including the enormous distance it takes to slow down such a huge vessel. MAKER'S MARK BOURBON

How cool is this ?? During our last couple of China Trips we developed something of a taste for the world’s best Bourbon ie. Maker’s Mark. So much so that we decided to have a barrel all to ourselves ;-) The image above is actually the Barrel Dedication Certificate complete with wax seal. Our barrel is number 796704.

I’ve added some more videos taken recently of some of our CAT4 [Professional] Fireworks. There are a couple of shells and various large 30mm cakes in the videos. When the new fireworks get here we will add some more videos to demonstrate the amazing new items we’ve imported for the first time into the UK.

MAERSK SYDNEY

Our fireworks are on a ship called the Maersk Sydney which will soon arrive in the UK. This massive vessel can carry hundreds of shipping containers at once as you can see from the picture. You can even track it's progress yourself at www.vesseltracker.com - to do this you will need the ship's IMO number which is 9289958.

The picture above was taken just as our latest container was being secured ready for shipping over to the UK. It’s hard to imagine how difficult it must be to pack with that level of accuracy [remember - the boxes are not all the same size or shape] - you wouldn’t squeeze an extra packet of sparklers in there.
